Back in the day –
I would have loved this!
But – those days are past!
Today, I have to watch what I eat –
I am diabetic!
Comes from those first 50 years of my life!
Back then, I ate everything-
With never a thought!
Young and foolish!
But that lifestyle ended with me twenty years ago.
However, all those early years-
The damage had been done!
Twenty years ago – I made a switch –
Finding a supplement and then correcting my diet.
By then, I was borderline diabetic!
And unknown at that time-
Headed for a major heart attack!

Sherry became a certified health coordinator.
And she started guiding me in my life in my pre-senior years.
We changed –
No more sodas!
No more greasy foods and cut way back on fast foods,
And processed foods.
Eventually, almost no fast food.
But by this time, I was placed on meds.
While I was eating healthy-
The damage had been done!

My life had become one of maintenance.
Striving to keep my “NUMBERS” in line!
I have participated in sports my entire life-
None of that is harder than resisting the temptation to cheat!
Seeing and smelling the “STUFF” you should avoid.
I have managed to not drink sodas or milk.
Seldom fast food, except sometimes while traveling!

I have to try very hard not to do this!

Our lives today in retirement revolve around DOCTORS’ or DENTISTS’ appointments.
Our numbers remain on the good side!
But the calendar – well – Dermatologist – Dentist – General Doctor –
Chriopactor – Heart Doctor-
Tests and fasting for blood tests.
All to maintain these senior bodies.
I credit our change twenty years ago –
FINDING A SUPPLEMENT WITH PUBLISHED RESEARCH!
SOMETHING THAT PROVES THROUGH TESTING IT DOES WHAT IT SAYS IT DOES!

We try to eat more fruits and vegetables –
But it is hard to do.
Snacks have turned into celery – peppers-
Grapes and berries.
Drinks made out of nutrition.
I have almost cut out alcohol entirely.
I drink mostly filtered water.

I believe this is what stabilized all those early years.
Losing weight – I weigh less than I did when I graduated in 1967!
But I am still diabetic-
Although those numbers are almost borderline.
My life is preventive.
I have to take meds because of my heart attack and damage to my heart.
I am a survivor –
My calendar throughout the year –
Is to have tests to maintain my health.
I AM BEYOND THE BEGINNING OF MY SENIOR YEARS!

I am me!
This is who I am.
I live life one day at a time.
