Papa’s World – Boardwalk – Myrtle Beach – S.C.

We decided to take a little side trip on our way to Costco!

Since neither one of ever remembered going to the Boardwalk

on the Grand Strand of Myrtle Beach –

We thought we would take our time

and follow the beach road from North Myrtle Beach

all the way down to the Boardwalk!

It had been almost 25 years since we vacationed in North Myrtle Beach

and – we were not disappointed!

We parked half way in between the two piers.

And then we walked toward the Northern Pier!

We entered the doors and went out to the open pier

where the fishermen were and the other tourist.

We had walked by numerous shops – places to eat –

a large volleyball complex with multiple courts

and a sand volleyball game going on –

two on two!

The boardwalk continued beyond that pier

but – we decided to return from our starting point

and then walk South to the other pier

about a mile distance between the two.

The southern pier in the distance

The walk back to where we parked the car

was on the boardwalk

but it changed to a paved walk – wide – and lined on both sides

with bushes – plam trees and shade and flowers.

It was not straight but wound from side to side

with benches in the shade.

Places to see and observe the beach
The beach of white soft sand

We decided once we got to the second pier

we would look for a place to grab a late lunch

before we continued on our way to Costco.

We found that place by the pier itself –

actually looked like it was part of the pier

called “WICKED TUNA”

where we made our way to the top and had a great view of the pier

and the beach in both directions!

We had a great lunch sharing some appetizers.

We continued onto Costco – and vowed that when we have to make that trip again – we would include the Boardwalk and this place to sit and have lunch!

Papa’s World – I do not like shopping – I go in and get what I want – & and get out!

GOOD MORNING

I associate shopping at COSTCO as if you are driving

the Beltway around D.C. ! LOL

I mean you have to watch out – you have the slow ones-

who walk very slowly but in the middle of the aisle.

You look for a opening to get around them

And just as you see it –

from behind you comes some crazy cart pusher

and almost takes your elbow off as they speed by !

When I go in there –
I NEED COFFEE
to relax me
or more alert
which ever comes first

Then you come to intersections of aisles –

one to the right does not apply here –

first to push through

No SORRY’S

Not even a glance

Rudeness is a way of life in the aisles.

Then there are the ones who camp out at the FREE FOOD !

You know – those places where they give away free tastings!

You have the GUY who stands there eating

blocking everyone else

eating one at a time

until all is gone and HE moves on.

Doesn’t care and is immune to stares!

Not all is lost though

You do sometimes run into people

Like I was standing in line to check out

And this man and women walked up to the line

just to the right of me

I have this problem of not recognizing people

out of the environment I know them in

That is just crazy – because I know them.

He was dressed way different – no white shirt – tie

no white smock – dress pants – no black shiny shoes

But a Sweat shirt – baggy sweat pants not matching –

sandals – no socks !

Other words my HEART DOCTOR who I have seen

a dozen times or more these past six years!

He has worked with me – talked to me

he is my connection for life

Yet it was him who extended his hand and ask me

” How are you doing”?

It was him who saw me and spoke first.

I am so bad at that.

Then there are the old couples – shopping who do smile

who stop and wait

who are courteous

the ones you talk to

and they smile and talk back

And then I realize – COSTCO is a microcosm of that same Beltway drive

As the same diverse area we live

as the same state we live in

and the same country of the U.S.A.

There are some good – some bad – some in between

Life as we live it here

Life as we have it here

Not as bad as I thought

Pretty good

America – is and always has been great

Wouldn’t live anywhere else

Thank God my ancestors immigrated here

It takes all kinds
A child knows no boundary
and no limits
except that which
WE TEACH THEM

Thank you for reading Papa’s World

Costco not so bad after all
