American Olean Tile Co. – Dal Tile Co. – in Olean, New York
I worked here for 32 years, and Sherry worked here for 17 years before we transferred to Northern Va.
The upper right-hand corner is the shipping department where I worked.
The upper left-hand corner is where I started in 1967!
Sherry worked in payroll, and I had to go through there to the traffic manager’s office to discuss shipping and billing.

One day I was on my way back through payroll when a lady named Grace stopped me.
She asked me if she could ask a question, and I said sure.

A very old picture of where I lived in Eldred, PA. –
Near the church with the steeple upper right of this picture.
I lived about a block from the WWII museum.
She said, ” I understand you are getting a divorce”?
I answered, “That is correct.” –
And I did not know what I was going to do or where I was going to live.
It was a short conversation, and I went on to my desk next to the shipping bays.
About ten minutes later –
The door opened, and Sherry came out with a handful of shipping bills and packing slips.

She said she had overheard my conversation with Grace and that she was also going through a divorce.
A CHANCE CONVERSATION that showed we both had something in common.
We talked, and I asked her if she would like to have a drink in the next few days!
She said yes, and that was how we got together.

Our divorces became final, and a year and a half later we were married.
6-25-1982!
A CHANCE CONVERSATION – OVERHEARD –
I did not know about her divorce, nor she about mine.
FATE intervened.

Now, 45-plus years later after that conversation –
We live here in Cameron Woods Community.
We retired from American Olean Tile- Dal Tile with 79 1/2 years of service-
Between the two of us.

All because a CHANCE CONVERSATION OVERHEARD –
Brought us together.
