As a family, we gathered at Lake Holiday for Christmas Day dinner – twelve of us in total!

While visiting family in Lake Holiday, Va. we all went to the Lutheran – Bethel Church –
CHRISTMAS IN A BARN SERVICE!
The first one since the Pandemic stopped them.
Held on a working farm in the countryside – I would estimate 250 plus people attended.
The service was full of music and children –
Practicing before the service started!
We had excellent seats.
Sarah – Ella – Maddy – Mike – Debby and Sherry.
The Christmas lights and hanging stringers from the chandeliers were pretty.
After the service, we emerged in the sunshine as it had gotten warmer during the service.

Our trip out to California and to the Iconic Tree at Pebble Beach golf course.

Fun trip – we rented an AIRBNB – rented an SUV and traveled over 1000 miles touring the island for ten days!

We had sold our home in NVA – came here at the start of the Pandemic -in this picture, you can see just how deserted Main Street was.
We lived here for nine months while our home in Cameron Woods Community was being constructed.
Loved NMB and we were on a half-mile walk every day to the sand – surf of NMB!

We rented a townhouse in Winter Haven Florida just before the Pandemic hit in February.
We stayed here for a month and found this little British Bar and Grill while exploring – which we do everywhere we go.

Our life together has been residing in four states – WNY – NVA – SC and NC – initially growing up in Pa.
Neither of us like the cold – snow and ice weather.
Now we live on the border of N.C. and S.C. – where we have almost no snow or ice – but at times a heavy frost!
We live near two beaches – Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach.
We also have during these 40-plus years made life – long friends!
Jimmy and Dottie – I have known since to late 70s. We all grew up in the same town in Pa.
Cindy and Buck were their friends and then ours as we moved next door to them in 1988!
Today – we get together at each other’s homes – play golf – sing songs and generally have a great time.
There is much laughter in this group of friends!

The last of my family growing up in our house – my older brother Roger – is gone now but never forgotten.
He was the only hero I had – ten years my senior – thankfully we once again reunited the last ten years of his life – he graduated from H.S. and then College and the Navy.
He never came back home to live!

Friends were going to be in the area in mid-December so we arranged to meet at Broadway on the Beach in Myrtle Beach!

An open invitation to the neighborhood to meet and exchange homemade cookies was well-received –
Approximately 20 plus neighbors were there and the extra cookies were taken to the firehouse – senior living and assisted living places.
A fun time meeting new neighbors was had by all.
Little groups got together to get to know one another.

Because of time constraints – the gift exchange was moved from the clubhouse to our home!
We had 18 ladies and 4 husbands who came to the house and all brought delicious treats!
Christmas music – everyone brought their own drinks – and stories of their times here in the neighborhood.
There was a gift exchange by drawing numbers and if you saw another – you could exchange on the first draw.
Much excitement and stealing another’s gift!
All in fun and everyone went home happy!
For a spur of the moment, moving the party to our house worked out just fine.

This new year marks three and one-half years since we sold our house – stayed with family and then headed South to the border area of N.C. and S.C.

GREETINGS FROM THE NORTH – SOUTH and WEST FROM OUR FRONT DRIVEWAY – PAPA’S WORLD!
This is our view on the ladies’ tee box on number 18 at The Links at Brickyard Landing Golf Course.
We set our chairs up just as the sun went down and the full moon was coming up in the opposite direction.
It was chilly and we had blankets with us – some drinks – and just enjoyed the night sky waiting for the boats to come by!
The full moon was in the East and it was in this direction that the boats would come down the ICW!
We turned around, faced the West, and were greeted by a fantastic sunset!
The sun was almost down as we waited – I did not get pictures of the boats as it was dark and I was not sure they would turn out!
The waiting time was cold as the entire East Coast had cold weather.
But we braved it out and saw 12 boats come by all decorated out and numerous others that were not!

Once again we came back to where we lived for nine months – North Myrtle Beach and all the decorations for Christmas – along with a full moon and beautiful sunset.

Today is Christmas day – celebrated worldwide – and once again we are with family.
The joy of family-giving – comforts of home – warmth and yuletide greetings!

Today I give thanks to family – both near and far – thoughts – words and memories –
always cherishing – always thinking and always praying for memories to be made.

Good day everyone – just a little humor to get some smiles going!
Our Community has had a Thanksgiving Day turkey-trot – Walk for the third time!
This time some twenty souls walked some 2.3 miles on a chilly morning – 9am.
But – with the sun it warmed up throughout the walk!
On our first walk had six people – each year it has added more people.
I hope that from year to year we keep this going adding people each year!
Families – friends and residents made up this year’s Cameron Woods Community walk.
Our neighborhood has expanded – up at the end of this road another 124 homes are almost completed.
When done we will have around 250 homes and garden homes.
A nice quiet neighborhood set off the highway –
Lots of trees – ponds, and roads for walking
A community center – pickleball courts and swimming pool.

OUR THIRD ANNUAL TURKEY – TROT – WALK – CAMERON WOODS COMMUNITY –

A little over three years ago – we decided to “CASH” out by selling our then-dream home –
in NVA. in Brambleton.
We had lived in that home for 14 1/2 years – and watched the community go from one High School to finishing the fourth H.S. when we moved on.
We were a metro ride to downtown Washington, D.C.
We had family there and they still are there in Winchester and Leesburg.
But – being retired – our 401 K took a big hit in the downturn – but housing went way up!
Plus – it was time – to move while we still had our health – to somewhere that we did not have to be in snow and ice!
We had thought about the Wilmington and Leland area in N.C.
We had friends there – and had spent vacations there.
By chance, while looking at rentals – I came across a condo in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Sitting on a small lake with fountains – it was ideal so we made the move during the pandemic.
We love playing “AT” golf – and down here it is affordable where it was not in NVA.
We found that right away we were in the middle of golfers paradise!
We could pick and choose – buying what is called THE FIRST TEE card for even more reduced rates.
But also If we had an address here – we could get what is called LOCAL RATES!
So – we started playing 2 or 3 times a month on different courses.
We had found our dream once again.
We ended up in a new community in OIB. Between the mainland and the ICW.
Near two beaches – pictured here is Sunset Beach – our favorite walking beach because it is so flat and easy to walk on.
The far right where the tall building is – that is Ocean Isle Beach – separated by a channel.
That is closest to us and is much more commercial.
We spend a lot of time there for concerts – and open air and enjoy Pelican Roost – a bar and grill for good eats.
We walk the streets there next to the canals.
We are minutes from either one and once again a dream came true for us – beach life!
During the first nine months, we lived in NMB at the condo – while building our last dream home.
We now are settled in – all landscaping is done – and all other add-ons we have done are done.
We have room for the entire family.
And they all have been here – from Pa. to Va.
Our dream life is shared with family and friends who have also been here.
Palm trees – flowers – bushes and protected tall live oaks and pine trees – our dream of where to live.

PAPA’S WORLD – SOME THOUGHTS AND PICTURES – THE TWINS WHEN LITTLE!
We are content – a new home – friendly neighbors – walking roads and paths -Cameron Woods Community!
We try to walk daily – sometimes in the neighborhood – sometimes on the beach and sometimes in the park across the road.
But – it is “HOME” we come back to each time!
One of my favorite places is the front porch – sipping coffee or a nutrition drink.
Watching neighbors drive by – saying hello to those who walk by!
My “COMFORT PLACE” even in the rain if not blowing in – this porch has shade all day long!
The shrubs and flowers – we picked this lot for a couple reasons – Surnrise to the right and Sunset to the left of the driveway!
We have protected trees behind us – and some wetlands – birds – yes – some snakes but I have only seen two in the backyard since we have been here.
I put snake be gone down and it seems to work.
I have seen deer and turkey back there.
Our ever bloom roses – we have weather where they are here almost all year!
The long grass-like plants have purple – pink ends.
Coming home after our walk – we have no regrets about moving here!

The Pandemic came – everything shut down – we could only see our grandkids from a distance –
imagine the driveway – a tarp on the grass and us standing inside the garage some 30 feet from them!
Or ZOOM calls with family – alone we were and 401K going down – down –
but the silver lining – the housing market exploded!
It was time to move on –
sell the house and contents – move SOUTH –
to warmer weather – sun – sand – and surf – OCEAN ISLE BEACH – near the border of N.C. and S.C.
Here we are on Sunset Beach and in the upper right – the tall building – Ocean Isle Beach – just minutes from our home in Cameron Woods Community!

We live near golf – 30 courses – entertainment – Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach.
Big box stores within 30 minutes.
Our dream home – single-story living – trees in the back yard – walking all over the neighborhoods –
a large park right across the road with tennis and pickleball courts – ball fields and track and basketball courts – a park for dogs – restrooms, etc.
Golfing with close friends – seeing shows and exploring different towns and beaches.

Our young grandson – Bode – invited his friends to the ION INTERNATIONAL TRAINING ICE SKATING FACILITY in Leesburg, Va.
It is a huge facility with a hockey-sized arena with seats on one side and another hockey-sized arena on the other side for free skating!
Bode – third from left – with his friends in the rink – they had such a good time – they also had a private room where they went for cake and pizza and presents.
Here they are in the entrance to the rink – such fun – I watched them for an hour or more!
The other side is where the hockey side is and also a training center for the Olympics and you can see some of them skating!

BODES BIRTHDAY AT ION INTERNATIONAL TRAINING SKATING ARENA IN LEESBURG, VA.
Recently we went to the ION SKATING rink for our grandson’s birthday party –
In Leesburg, Va.
Where – we walked into the other half of the building and to our surprise –
INTERNATIONAL SKATING pairs for the Olympics were training!
I talked to the mother of the girl in the above picture – who is from Georgia – the country – and they had just flown in from France.
She told me there are three sites across the country – Salt Lake City – Michigan and here at ION in Leesburg, Va. that are the elite of training sites!
In this picture, you can see the USA pairs for ice skating being instructed by the coach for the USA OLYMPIC TEAM!
There were pairs from Georgia – France – Poland – Great Britain and the USA here that day.

The mother told me they had moved to Leesburg so her daughter could train at ION.
This is a hockey arena and it is really nice – there are teams that play here although not the NHL.
I was very surprised at the size and how nice it was way out here in the country.
We had no idea when we came for the birthday party being held on the other side of the wall
in an exact-sized rink
but without the seats that this was going on .
I only found it as I had asked to go into the rink to see it!

As he sleeps – balloons greet him when he wakes up!
The living room – birthday greetings – fireplace – it was 30 plus degrees outside – but a beautiful sunrise.
Frost on the ground but a warm fire in the fireplace – and he got what he had been asking for since the beginning of last summer!

PAPA’S WORLD – BIRTHDAY BOY BODE!!!!!!! A DAY TO REMEMBER – MEMORIES!!!!!!
While in historic downtown Winchester, Va. while walking we came across a pizza joint –
with a logo stating “NEW YORK STYLE PIZZA”!
Being that we are from Western New York before we moved to NVA –
this was a surprise and I went!
“BENNY’S” has a collage of pictures inside on the wall next to the counter –
and a sign that states – 28 minutes or less – eat our 28-inch pizza – win $280.00!
So far – no one has won that money! One slice is like half a normal-sized pizza pie!
A 28″ – cheese-only pizza is $36.00! This crust – New York style – is chewy – just like I like – soft and chewy!
Just the right amount of sauce and cheese!
I was presented with my take-out 28″ Benny’s New York-style pizza pie in the box!
And it was as good as advertised – we had seven people and got through half of it!

The car is packed and we are ready to head out – back to NVA!
This would be a long weekend-like trip.
The front porch – flowers – shrubs – living here we have warm weather in the Fall.
Allowing us to continue to grow our flowers.
Green all year – almost no snow or ice!
I packed warm clothes for our trip back to NVA – where it can and does snow – cold wind –
There will be gatherings inside and outside.
We will live day to day and dress accordingly.
My view as I back out of the driveway and head up the street – going to be a nice travel day!
The trip North involves a good portion of Interstate 95 – a road I hate to travel.
Alas – what normally takes a little over seven hours turned into a little over ten hours!
Traffic was horrible – slowing to a complete stop in many places.
I guess trying to navigate alternate roads with red lights doesn’t save time!
Near our destination – rain and colorful foliage – the leaves are bright reds- yellows and orange.
While for the most part on back roads, it was peaceful – hardly any traffic at all –
but eventually, you have to get on 95 and then it starts – stop and go.
Our trip was worth it when we saw the family and the good times began making memories.

that we all could meet at for an afternoon including Marley – the Goldendoodle.

Our friends – Pam and Bob – stayed in a campground a couple miles from our home in their RV.
We purchased the four tickets way back last Feb. and they wanted to go with us!
So – here we are – launching the Kayaks one by one – waiting in the bay until all are in.
We all had life jackets and were led by two people familiar with the ICW and the marshes.
We were here for a half hour – and the guide was explaining blue crabs and caught one to show us.
After the sandbar – FIREBALL – blue crab- numerous jet skis – other Kayaks – we continued the maze through the marsh and reeds!
We are going to do this again – waiting until Feb. to buy at half price once again.
This was a deal!

The Juice Plus Conference was held in October in Charlotte, N.C. at the convention center.
The Conference is a yearly event in the Fall – with another yearly leadership conference in the Spring.
Thursday – Friday all day and ending up on Saturday a half day and the public is invited to the Saturday day.
Thursday night is celebrated with a party usually from 7pm. to 9pm.
The agenda is advertised – break out sessions and the main stage with music – speakers –
results of research and ongoing events and company information.
A big part is the recognition of partners and advancements.
A marketplace where you can buy gifts or apparel – open for the entire conference.
The opening main speakers are on the main stage, here Jason Dorsey spoke for over an hour to an audience of 4000 plus partners.

PAPA’S WORLD – HEALTH CONFERENCE – THE JUICE PLUS COMPANY – CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA
We drove some three and one-half hours West to Charlotte, N.C. for the Juice Plus Conference.
This was my first conference since before the pandemic.
Mainly because I did not like flying – I had COVID twice – and I felt being in a plane was not such a good idea!
But – we were 191 miles – a distance that made it driveable in a car!
We stayed in an AIRBNB in the city – a little over one-half mile from the convention center!
So we walked and walked – everywhere!
Averaging 10 to 15,000 steps a day! Good exercise – and easy to find our way around.
Charlotte is a beautiful city – we walked in pairs or groups for safety – but never once did we feel uncomfortable.
The convention center welcomes us – signs – and lots of people.

Just across the street from the convention center – and a very nice park to walk through!

I do want to go back and hope that they will choose to hold another conference here!

THE WAY TO HEALTHY EATING – TOWER GARDEN BY JUICE PLUS COMPANY.
The last time I went was pre-pandemic!
We are going on 18 years of being involved in our health!
Before that – I WAS A FAST FOOD JUNKIE!
We – Sherry and I traveled to Charlotte, N.C. – a four-hour drive – no plane for me!
Where we met SIX LADIES – all members of our TEAM GENERATIONS –
which was formed almost 18 years ago by a mother and two daughters!
That team now consists of TWO QMND – QSSC’S – QVF’S and many more partners.
Not all could make the trip here but are in our thoughts.
Six beautiful ladies – all striving to make children and families healthy!
It has been a purposeful journey all these years – and we have made many team members and friends in the HEALTHY LIVING WORLD!

The woman in my life who started TEAM GENERATIONS almost 18 years ago – Sherry!!!!!
Mentor and one-half of the man and wife team (Sue) Burdick Team – Bob Burdick whom we have known as we are part of that team.
Bob and Sue started their team at the beginning 30 years ago and are original NMD’S –
They are responsible for changing thousands and thousands of lives both healthy and living wages!

Google Team Generations
The wall in our rented AIRBNB in downtown Charlotte –
we have eight of us all part of “TEAM GENERATIONS” for the JUICE PLUS COMPANY.
Dinner out after our first full day – once we parked the car – we walked everywhere we needed to be.
Right in the heart of the city.
Yes – we stayed right in the middle of the skyline you see here.
Our view at night – everything lit up – we were a 13-minute walk to the convention center
where the Juice Plus Conference was held.
The first full day was a breakout session and I elected not to go –
The ladies of TEAM GENERATION are on their way to the Convention Center.
My view while I worked on my blog! I did leave once and walked to the Convention Center –
I went into what I thought was the building but a security guard directed me to a side door-
She told me to go into the Hilton and they would direct me to the Center.
I walked into the middle of a big sports production –
lights – cameras and action!
A crescent-shaped both were set up with five people – just like you see on NFL TV!
There were people with cameras – big ones with microphones –
And very tall basketball players in all types of different uniforms!
I had walked right into the middle of MEDIA DAY for men’s BASKETBALL of the ACC!
ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE!
I asked a reporter how to get to the Convention Center and he directed me out the back door –
turn right – follow the metro tracks – There was a sidewalk – that led to the Center.
I came in the back door and ran into one of our Team members –
She told me where to go for my packet!
My first walk alone in the big city – I got lost – and ended up in the middle of a TV set – but found my way
to the place where the JUICE PLUS CONFERENCE was being held! LOL

PAPA’S WORLD – EVERYTHING GOOD – ALL SMILES!
Our first time here – we went on Saturday – hundreds of vendors – arts – crafts – homemade goods!
Also – food trucks – Oyster tents – beer tents – all types of food and drink and lots of people!
$5.00 per person to get in – live bands and music for two days on the main stage.
Our view of the stage and one of the live bands.
We had our own chairs and we paid for drinks.
There were many cool items for sale – many made by the vendors themselves.
There were shuttle buses but we paid $10.00 to park all day by the pier.
One-half bucket of Oysters was $25.00 and a full bucket was $40.00 – plus they had eating contests in the tent!
I do not eat raw Oysters but I like them baked or roasted.
We had a great first time going to the Oyster Festival.

It is early Thursday morning – I awoke at 3 am.!
Too much on my mind!
I look around – the car is packed
The next to final trip to Tammy and Marcus house
where we will establish a home base.
Then one more trip to the storage unit –
and finally the last trip – lock up and leave
We are changing – evolving – dreaming
a new adventure awaits – it is fun selecting places
seeing rentals – looking at real estate for sale!
We will go to where our eyes take us
but stay where our heart finds home!
We will seek warmth – sunshine & golf!
It is finally time to do that!
Living in NVA is $$$$ to golf!
Owning a home in NVA – well taxes are high
as is the HOA – and while we love our dream home
At our age – maintaining it is costly.
New roof – trim painted outside – new HVAC
A new fence was on the horizon –
Our home I must say is nearly perfect
The lawn I was told looks like Augusta National!
New Bamboo flooring – new fridge –
But we loved it and the way of life.
I guess it was the pandemic and the stock market that gave us thought.
Now was the time – the value was up and the market strong.
We have choices – places to live –
friends and family to visit
and God willing – grand daughters soccer to watch.
Once again we will laugh with the friends we have held close
for almost 38 years.
She will continue her home based internet business
Health – family – nutrition where ever we go.
Yes – I look around – almost finished – today I watch Bode
Sherry will help Tammy who is getting ready to reopen her store
529Kidsconsignment – closed because of the pandemic.
Taylor and Cassidy have tennis lessons
Yes – I was up early – yes I look around – time for coffee –
Almost done – almost 14 years here –
our dream home – now another dream begins
