All through our years (37 ) of marriage – we have planted flowers and landscaping. In our home today – we await Spring with a eye to the beauty of FLOWER’S !
View of the back with our two Tower Gardens – bird bath and replanted Geranium’s from previous years. And to the left a portable pot of POTATO’S a first foe me.
Our first step every early Spring is preparing our two Tower Gardens for the growing season – April thru end of October. We also have one inside the garage with grow lights so we are eating fresh produce – November thru end of March – making our fresh produce growing year around.
Patio with flower ” Bicycle ” we purchase years ago at a garden show !
Yesterday – we went to Home Depot – to select different flowers and then potted them and placed in the patio. EXTRA BENEFIT unknown to us at check out – the man said – sign up for credit card today and receive $70.00 off your purchase – DEAL ! We payed $20.00 – rest was a credit and as soon as we got home – paid the credit card off !
One of two flower boxes on the walled in patio.
The flower boxes will be much bigger as the season progress’s. We try a different theme every year – Sherry picks the theme – my duty is ” It is not for me to question why – but for me to do or die ” !!
In a marriage – good motto to live by !
We found this flower pot holder in the trash years ago and reclaimed it – I painted it a couple days ago.
Always like sitting by flowers when sipping my coffee – the cushions we take in if it is going to rain.A stand alone pot holder which I repainted a couple days ago.
85 % of our plants that are in the beds – come back each year – so mostly – only a few do we purchase to plant in them – geraniums – we pull every year and put them in a bucket and hang from the ceiling – cleaning them up in the Spring and replant them – saving 90 % of them !
One of many flowering bushes we have that come out each year.
The twin bush that was shown before – on each end of the fence.
Front step on the porch.
This year we tried one more thing – Potato’s – we planted eight – five among our strawberry patch ( every year we pulled them in the Fall from the Tower Garden – and stuck them in the ground on the side of the house – 12 to 15 quarts last year ) and three more in a portable container – this is a first for me – not sure what to expect but they already are 16 inches high !
One of the beds out front with just the two planted flowers – rest come back every year along with our deep red – pink and light pink roses.
The beds in the front have a combination of colors Spring – Summer and Fall . Reds – pinks – yellows -purples – whites and many off shades. I also have planted Crepe Myrtles ( 3 of them ) that bloom late May and continue until late Fall – a deep ruby red !
All in all – Spring plantings are my favorite time of year -one that continues until the harsh cold of Fall and Winter.
Living life to the plus includes for me sights of Spring – Summer and Fall. I do not like the cold – ice and snow !
Eating healthy from our Tower Gardens ( even edible flowers) and enjoying nature in bloom – bringing a calm – for me lower blood pressure !
Year – 2022 – oldest granddaughter Maddy – senior captain on the University of Lynchburg women’s soccer team- celebrating winning the ODAC conference championship and attending the NCAA tournament’s first round.

My mother was Pa. Dutch-Irish Catholic – My father was Irish Prostatant –
My mother had ten brothers and sisters – my father had two brothers and a sister.
My mother’s mother married an Irishman – named Aiken – last name – David’s first name.
On my father’s side – the story went that five brothers came over from Ireland – County Tyrone –
it seems once here they split up and never saw one another again.
That was in the 1800’s.
I had an older sister by 15 years and an older brother by 10 years.
Then a sister who died at birth was 5 years older than me.
My younger brother came a little over 4 years after me.
My sister – lived next door to our house and had three children – the oldest was a couple year younger than my little brother.
I am on the left – my niece in the middle( Terri) and my brother Mike.
All three of us grew up together-
By the time I was ten years old – both my sister and older brother had moved on –
Eldred was a small town – 800 to 1000 people –
It seemed I knew just about everyone.
The main street was prone to flooding in the Springs –
It was cool at night – just a fan sometimes or open windows with screens.
It was lush and green but there could be the dog days of August!
My early life was filled with riding my bike – skating on the sidewalks – playing with neighborhood kids.
Smoking corn silk!
Spending hours at the ballpark – throwing apples – sliding down the hill on cardboard –
Going to work with my father – he was a supervisor for South-Penn – Pennsoil.
Playing baseball or football at the park.
Trust came in be home before the street lights came on.
My grandma lived with us – I remember sitting on her lap on the front porch –
Seeing a neighborhood boy walking on the sidewalk across the street on his way to school.
He was two years older than me – and I asked her when it would be my turn to walk to school!
My early years were spent in that small town – not knowing much about the world beyond those
town limits – except when we would go for the Friday night fish fry at the Moose Club in Olean, N.Y.
Sometimes even a movie at the theater down the street from that Club.
“OLD YELLOWER” comes to mind.
Playing “JACKS” on our front porch with neighbor children and discussing –
“Grandpa on Lassie died” – real life.
Those were my early years and so much more I remember – another time and another place.
I worked for 48 1/2 years – all except one of those years for the same company.
Today I am far removed from that area and town –
although my two sons still live in that area.
I have a couple of great nieces and their children still there and a niece still there.
Everyone in my immediate family is now gone.
But I have memories of those early years and it seems I can still see those streets I roamed in my mind.
Now in my senior years – my memories are still bright and I write them down in case they dim.
That little town of Eldred, Pa. still holds a special place in my heart –
someday I shall return – instead of walking the streets, I shall drive.
Visit the graves and see the ballpark – gaze at the house I grew up in – my great nieces live there now which means that house has been in my family now for over 80 years.
Thanks for reading my little memory of my early years – with my wife – who also grew up some 40 miles from there in a little town of Swedish descent called Mount Jewett, PA.

Our busy lives – our family – both our close family and what we consider our family of Juice Plus.
The journey began 13 years ago – and for us it was simply changing our life style – getting healthy – knowing that after we retired – we wanted to remain in life active as we had been in our early years.
Here we are – both 40 years old – playing not rec volleyball – but smash it in your face. The Beach Club – fond memories – we had to do something to maintain that competitive edge.
In the above picture – we had been married 7 years – and are to the far left at age 40 ! I had always played sports – softball until I was 38 years old – basketball for a radio station – and at age 46 after volleyball – golf.
On one of our golfing trips back home in NWPA.
Today – we golf as much as we can – but are busy with our lives – our grand kids and our in home business of The Juice Plus Company. We started this business as a way to pay for our product – and after one year – knew that we had to get our family and grand kids on it for health reasons. And then it started to grow – and grow . All from home while working full time in our Career business of TILE !! Yes – we worked a combined 79 1/2 years for the same company !
Part of our Juice Plus Family Team – from across the Country at the Conference in Tampa. NOTE – I AM THE ONLY GUY !!! LADIES GET IT !!!
Working for Corp. America is a dream when you are young – but can and did become a very stressful – unbearable lifestyle that we both wanted out of ! That is when we really took a look at the business side of Juice Plus. We were already distributors ( cost $50.00 a year ) – and were sharing it as the belief grew stronger and stronger with changes in our combined health. It became time to move forward – so a team developed – and it got bigger and bigger – just sharing – today we have two QMND’s and one Senior under Sherry – with one QMND walking the stage in October.
My step daughter Debby Taylor Meyers and my wife Sherry – just before we went to the Elton’s in Nashville Tenn.
Debby is almost there as a new NMD – (National Marketing Director) and we will most likely watch her WALK THE STAGE in Austin Texas – where she will give a speech before 8000 people – and recognized by the Juice Plus Company. Something that has changed her and her families lives ! Her daughter will receive up to$1750.00 per year for college! As one of her perks for being a NMD !
Part of our Juice Plus family and team. I REALLY NEED SOME GUYS TO BE THERE WITH ME ! LOL
We have made a dramatic change in a lot of lives – both in health and wealth. We retired – Sherry at age 63 – me at 64 – leaving behind successful careers – going full time in the Juice Plus business – traveling the Country – promoting health and showing how people can take control and work for themselves – living life to the plus one day at a time.
On one of our golf trips -“The nineteenth hole ” !
This August – we will tour Northern California – then in October – Austin Texas – then late January – all of February and early March – Florida – getting out of the cold ! All the while working from home on the computer and phone no matter where home is !
Our life has changed – to the good – no STRESS – maintaining a healthy lifestyle – playing golf – seeing our grand kids grow up-watching them go off to college – and most important – watching our two daughters pursue their own dreams of independence and life styles in health and nutrition.
Our road to success is a road map and we have a team following it – there is no ” I ” in TEAM – but there is a lifestyle out there – one that WE choose – and is one YOU can duplicate – TIME -LOVE – HEALTH – you just have to want it !
For more information go to http://www.sf.juiceplus.com – Sherry’s website – email – look at the site – you get this for $50.00 for a year !
You share – you take the order – send it in – the company process’s it – packages it – delivers it – collects the money for it – and sends you a commission every month ! You carry no inventory -you just share it like you would a good book or movie !
You get a whole new World full of people just like you who want to be healthy and wealthy and sharing life to the plus.
” PAPA’S WORLD – OUR WORLD OF HEALTH – JUICE PLUS “
We went to OIB and walked – parking at the museum – walking 2nd street and then one of the side streets on the canals!
we managed to get in over two miles when we stopped at THE DRIFT COFFEE SHOP right across from where we parked.
You sit on the deck on the second story – with pleasant breezes – and just relax – taking in the park across the street!
Across the street in the beach entrance – dunes and sand – Carolina blue skies and white clouds.
We had green iced tea which they made and poured over ice –
and a Banana Bread with some sort of cream cheese – strawberries – walnuts – blueberries and drizzled with honey to share!
It was fantastic and I must say – they also have healthy breakfast items, smoothies, and coffee.
Thank you for reading PAPA’S WORLD – my site: livinglifedoingitmyway.blog
Living where we do – ten minutes and we are here – walking the beach or the streets – enjoying the park which they are now constructing a basketball court – pickleball court and a covered picnic shelter to go along with the stage – splash park – playground – restrooms and open-air concerts in the Summer from May to September!
Green iced tea – banana bread – fruit nuts and honey – sitting outside – PRICELESS!
OCEAN ISLE BEACH DRIFT COFFEE SHOP – ON 2nd STREET!
We wanted to see the city – we had visited once before but mainly at the Biltmore!
One of our stops while walking was the BASILICA of SAINT LAWRENCE – a Roman Catholic church!
It has a huge rotunda – free standing – and is quite beautiful – worth the walk-in and see!
Many stores we went into or walked past – walking the streets was easy – crossing the streets was also – it seemed once you pushed the crossing light – it was quick!
We chose this place for lunch and were surprised – I had a salad with salmon that was very good – it is a large beer garden and service was excellent!
Walking Ashville, N.C. – we ventured forth numerous times –
Pinball where for $13.00 you could play all day – a Comedy tour on a bus of all of Ashville –
We had a great time – and a tour of Seira Nevada Brewery!

We choose to live near the beach – but on the mainland side of the ICW!
We are out of the flood zone – but within 10 to 15 minutes of two beaches – Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach – and near several more beaches.
We also love golf and are in the middle of 20 to 25 golf courses!
We have excellent friends who live about 33 miles from us and we try to get together whenever possible to golf!
We have known them since they were our neighbors back in WNY in 1988!
They first moved down here some 25 years ago and we have been in contact and on vacations ever since.
We have met new people where we live and have been to several parties. Here we are in our driveway – and the group went caroling around the neighborhood while I remained and watched the fire.
Our home is decorated for Christmas – we love it here – country but 30 minutes to North Myrtle Beach and just 15 minutes to Shallotte and Calabash.
We are close to theaters, amusements, Wilmington, N.C., and Southport.
We have been through a Category one Hurricane – and anything over Two – we will leave.
SUNSET FROM OUR DRIVEWAY – and we also see SUNRISES FROM OUR DRIVEWAY.
WHY WE CHOOSE THE CAROLINAS TO CALL HOME – NO ICE OR SNOW!
We are happy here in retirement – living our dreams and life one day at a time. We do go back to NVA often to see family –
and they all have been down even our family from NWPA!
Thanks for reading PAPA’S WORLD – my site: livinglifedoingitmyway.blog LIFE IN THE CAROLINAS!
We took a little trip to Conway – about one-half hour away – we had been there two years ago – only on a Sunday
when all the stores were shut down –
We wanted to revisit when they were open and to our surprise – Conway is known as THE HALLOWEEN CITY!
Everywhere all the trees were decorated as were the stores outside and inside.
The trees seem to have grown pumpkins and as a store owner told my wife – when Hurricane IAN came through – not one pumpkin came down in the rain and winds!
Walking the streets – full of stores and a lot of historic churches.
A beautiful river walk – and a theater with blood coming over the roof and down the front showing the musical “CARRIE”!
Thanks for stopping by – CONWAY, S.C. – HALLOWEEN CITY! PAPA’S WORLD – livinglifedoingitmyway.blog
