Now that I am old or older –
I guess when we hide the eggs –
we hope in time we shall see them once again.
The same is true – as we age – that once again –
through memory – we can still see into the past!

Today – in this picture – I see much of my past.
For this building was just down the street from where I grew up.
At that time – it was Slavin’s Furniture store
Today – it part or the WWII museum –
and if you have not been there
YOU SHOULD GO!
It is fantastic! It is in a very small town in Eldred Pa. 16731!
Just to the left is the corner of the building.
And the wall came out far enough – that you could sit there and not be seen!
It became my fortress of solitude back then!

I was young – 7 or 8 years old.
Sometimes I would be by myself -and this is where I would go.
Sit in the dirt – back against the wall
And play jacks –
And wonder what the World looked like
Back at that time – I thought it ended just down the road!

Other times – we -my brother and I –
Would sneak out back of this store
for that is where they put the large – card board boxes
The ones that stoves – washers and dryers came in
And at that time they were waxed!
Which made them real slippery
to ride down the grass on the hill across from our house!

Today – I remember – growing up – memories.
I grew up in a small town where everyone new who you were!

Thank you for reading Papa’s World
